Preface

Web Development with Oracle Portal is intended as an Oracle9iAS Portal tutorial. To get the most out of the book, you need to have basic knowledge of relational database concepts and SQL programming. Familiarity with HTML and PL/SQL will also help you understand the simple HTML and PL/SQL code inserted in some of the book examples. Chapter 16 examples require basic Java and Java Server Pages knowledge.

This book covers O9iAS Portal from both developmental and administrative points of view. Even though some chapters demonstrate the developmental capabilities of O9iAS Portal by building a simple demo Web site (i.e., Employee Information), most of the chapters were written so they can be read individually. So if you need information about a speciÞc feature, you can read just the related chapter.
