Buff Hungerland is Academic Director for General Education at The Art Institute of Seattle. She has been an instructor for several years in the School of Design, where she has taught Design, 3-Dimensional Design, Color and Composition, Jewelry, and Design History; in the School of Fashion, where she taught Store Operations, Buying, and Leadership classes; and in General Education, where she taught English Composition and Career Development classes. She is a color consultant and makes art in both two and three dimensions. She has owned a retail store, and exhibited for 15 years in fine craft, carrying a client list of 150 galleries and stores.
Ms. Hungerland has an MA in Adult Education from Antioch University-Seattle, a K-12 Certificate in Art Education from the University of Northern Colorado, and a BA in Art History from the University of California-Riverside. Her current research interests lie in multiculturalism in design education and teaching logical/mathematical subjects to the visual/spatial student. She is passionate about design and design education and is grateful for the forum and teaching/learning exchange with her students.
Ms. Hungerland lives with her husband, an architect, and several furry creatures on an island in the Puget Sound, a short ferry ride from Seattle, Washington. She has two grown daughters, more talented than they know.
