This is a course in beginning drawing for use with a class or as independent study. The author emphasizes the psychological aspects of the creative process, particularly the idea that the right side of the brain must be utilized. Part 1 covers attitudes, materials, and basic drawing terminology. Part 2 covers still life, outdoor subjects, and the human figure. Each chapter is accompanied by several exercises to give the student practice in acquiring technique and solving problems. The book is illustrated throughout with examples of drawings by students and professional artists.
