9780131384774: Politics, Power and the Common Good: An Introduction to Political Science (3rd Edition)

This new edition is more global and engaging with a focus on contemporary political challenges such as how to establish and expand human rights, protect the environment, reduce poverty, and create a more peaceful world. It presents a clear explanation of the basics of politics, while at the same time raising challenging questions that will encourage readers to think deeply about the contemporary political world. Readers will learn about the contending perspectives that are used to understand the world, the problems of the five-sixths of the world that live in poverty, and the global political system of the twenty-first century.

From the Back Cover:

“I congratulate the authors on their outstanding textbook. Many speak of writing textbooks, a few try, but very few succeed as Mintz, Close and Croci have done in conveying so much complexity with such elegance and simplicity. I admire the text and am pleased with my students’ reactions.”

Dr. Paul Nesbitt-Larking, Huron University College, U. Western Ontario.

The authors continue to present a clear explanation of the basics of politics, while at the same time raising challenging questions that will encourage Canadian students to think deeply about the contemporary political world.
