The book aims to answer the question "How do computers and terminals actually communicate with each other?" The only reference to the word internet, is as in internetwork(ing). Appendix A is a general intro to the basics. Most of the book is devoted to a details of the protocols and issues. There is one reverence to the Arpanet as an example of "adaptive or dynamic directory approach to routing." Of historical interest now. But it is interesting to see where we started.
