From the Back Cover:

Barbara H. Karlin's Tax Research, Second Edition, presents the subject of tax research within a uniquely integrated format oriented toward the process of conducting tax research in real-world situations. First, the text combines the presentation of how to do tax research with a discussion of the research resources that exist. Second, the book brings together a discussion of both electronic and print research tools.

Features
  • NEW—Updated to reflect changes in electronic research tools.
  • NEW—Updated chapter on federal tax procedure to reflect changes in the IRS organization and structure.
  • Practitioner observations appear throughout to give a real-world view to the subject.
  • Emphasis on the research process—discusses both primary and secondary research tools in detail and in the order in which each would be used. Each chapter begins with flow charts on the research process.
  • Provides students with the necessary tie between the technical information about research resources and information about the research process.
  • Integrated discussion of electronic and print research resources within each step of the research process—each chapter addresses all the available methods of accessing tax resources.
  • Provides the reader with the capability of mixing media depending on the library availability and their personal preferences.
  • A separate appendix on using the World Wide Web—addresses additional issues and tools available using this medium even though it is discussed in other chapters throughout the book.
  • Gives students the necessary exposure to this modern research tool to increase their comfort and competency.
  • Focuses on the practical elements of tax research—e.g., the need to be time efficient.
  • Supplies students with the knowledge they need to effectively and efficiently perform tax research that they will need to do for actual clients.
  • Allows students to apply what is learned in a building block fashion, so that the process and information learned in earlier chapters are practiced in combination with new information in later chapters.

Supplements: Instructor Resource Manual and Instructor Resource CD-ROM containing solutions to the end-of-chapter problems and test questions. A separate CD-ROM will be packaged with every text that contains Tax Analyst's OneDisc program for tax research.
