Synopsis
This concise book represents the distillation of the author's knowledge and experience gained over twenty years of research, teaching, and the practical application of his "conceptual programming model" for adult education. It is intended to meet the longstanding programming needs of students and practitioners in adult education or related fields, as well as the needs of those who plan and manage educational enterprises for adult learners. This book presents a comprehensive, conceptual framework for planning, designing and implementing, evaluating and accounting for planned adult education programs. It is designed to assist the adult educator in fulfilling his or her responsibility to analyze the sociocultural context of the desired change, identify with educational needs in the particular instance and act in congruence with the supporting adult education organization. Among its special features, the book: (1) examines different models of the adult education programming process and the various settings in which those models are applicable; (2) presents a theoretical approach to the programming process; (3) details a comprehensive approach to the planning of adult education programs; (4) describes how adult education programs are designed and implemented; and (5) explores how programs are evaluated and accounted for in adult education.
