Reviews

Kindergarten-Grade 4 Leering or lowering, the Elephant Child, his family, and friends are assembled in raucous disarray. Frascino's water-based color illustrations are funny, lively, and full of personality, but they illustrate and do not extend Kipling's tale. There has been a recent flood of good newly illustrated editions of The Elephant's Child, including ones illustrated by Raglin (Knopf, 1986) and by Cauley (HBJ, 1983). Both are preferred to this one.
