This is a how-to approach to help small companies obtain federal government contracts. It includes a review of government procurement strategies, discussions of appropriate forms, appendixes that amplify the text (i.e., a sample Quality Manual), but not, however, any sample forms. Written by an experienced procurement officer, the volume looks and reads like a seminar text. This topic is well covered by pricey loose-leaf services and agency-specific how-to documents, but this is as good as any of the low-cost guides. It's more current and detailed than William Reed's Step-by-Step Guide to Getting Government Contracts (Pride & Co., 1987) and significantly less expensive than Eli Chappe's Winning Government Contracts ( LJ 4/1/84). Recommended for public library circulating collections.
