CLOSING THE SKILLS GAP University Success is an academic course designed for English language learners preparing for mainstream academic environments. Authentic content, provided by top professors from Stanford University, is woven through reading, writing, and oral communication strands. The course–level by level–carefully scaffolds skill development to help students become autonomous learners, thereby closing the skills gap. University Success Writing, Advanced Level provides writing instruction and assignments that align with the way writing is taught at the university level and across disciplines. The focus is on inquiry-based research writing and on critical and creative thinking. Students learn how to execute writing assignments and construct essays that are academically appropriate. The Writing strand moves away from the production of highly structured essays and supports students through the writing process by focusing on systematic skill development tied to specific learning outcomes.
