It introduces systems from the viewpoint of signal transformations, leading to a description of differential and difference equations. It introduces convolution, frequency response, periodic and aperiodic signals, Fourier, Laplace and Z transforms. Once transforms are understood, the book introduces the system transfer function and calculation of system response.
