I have always found it to be on solid ground theoretically, and to contain a wealth of appropriate and immediately applicable ideas for classroom inquiry...It has an important emphasis on teaching critical thinking and decision making... I like the sections on values- a topic that can scare new teachers if not handled carefully...Pre-service teachers find the book interesting, conversational in tone, and useful for their student teaching experiences...It is well-organized, with a sensible conceptual flow and a helpful index... It is Canadian, so the examples are always relevant... Multiple editions have helped it stay current.
