Synopsis
A comprehensive guide for elementary teaching, unique in its provision for three instructional needs under one cover: 1) model lessons 2) instrumental instructions 3) basic music reading and educational backgrounds. In the first section, each of 63 model experiences focuses on a music learning about melody, rhythm, harmony, form, and expressive qualities; 118 musical selections are drawn from the current basal music series and represent a wide variety of styles. Suggestions at the end of each model lesson expand and reinforce the same music learning, using other musical selections. Section two includes basic instructions for playing and reading music using the Autoharp, guitar, piano, and soprano recorder. Backgrounds for teaching are presented in Section three: musical elements, behavioral objectives, translating music learning into behavior, basal music series, and the eclectic curricula.
