  • Students use the time-tested U.S. Department of Labor's system, O'Net, in addition to workbook activities to assess their personal interests, personality, values, and skills. (Ex. CH. 2).

  • Encourages students to think about how the academic and other decisions they make in college have a direct impact on how prepared they are for the day after graduation. (Ex. CH. 6).

About the Author

Dr. Susan Jones Sears, an education and career consultant, was a faculty member in counselor education at The Ohio State University for 25 years. Her consulting and research focus is in career and college student counseling.

 

Dr. Virginia N. Gordon has extensive experience in teaching, administration, advising and counseling in higher education settings. She has written extensively on topics associated with higher education including academic and career counseling.

 

Drs. Sears and Gordon also wrote "Selecting A College Major," published in 2010 by Prentice-Hall.
