From School Library Journal:
PreSchool-Grade 3 Bedsheets flapping on a clothesline, hotdogs roasting over a fire, Dad sitting on a suitcase so that it will close: family life consists of such unremarkable details. Yet Dupasquier's combination of these trivial occurrences has resulted in a charming wordless book. Dupasquier sets forth the home life of an ordinary family throughout a typical year. Each month is given a double-page spread, three-quarters of which shows a bird's-eye view of an ordinary two-story house in its rural setting. On the remaining half page are panels showing the family in activities appropriate to the season. Lively sketches, filled in with soft watercolors, make the characters and their surroundings come to life. Each time readers study a page they will discover new details. Although the activities are those that any family might experience, Dupasquier's treatment is original and interesting. Young children and their families will enjoy coming back to this book many times. Nancy Seiner, The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh

From Publishers Weekly:
In lively, action-filled scenes, the author of Jack at Sea and Dear Daddy wordlessly portrays the seasonal changes that take place in a landscape of hills, pastures, ponds, trees and a large house, center stage for the natural cycle from January to December. The family that lives there is depicted in various activities indoors and out: sledding in January, flying kites in April, having a campfire in July and making snowballs in December. The artist views the house from a fixed perspective throughout the 12 months, which emphasizes nature's transitions through time while one placehomereliably remains unchanged. His acclaimed skill as a watercolorist is fully employed; dusky pink skies and cumulus clouds drift over the countryside, and the changes in light from the unseen rotations of the sun contribute in a subtle but cleverly effective way to the sense of time's passage. Ages 3-8.
