Brief text and photographs display a variety of colored objects familiar to babies

PreSchool-- A contrived, dull book that strives to teach about colors through photographs of multiethnic babies. The repetitive text is unoriginally simplistic: "What color is Grace's cup?" Each double-page spread features a full-color photograph of a precious-looking child who is dressed in and using items of the featured color. On the right-hand page, objects such as a raincoat, stuffed animal, or toothbrush are labeled and neatly laid out for further inspection. There is nothing spontaneous or fun about this carefully designed collection. It's better to give children Bill Martin's Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? (Holt, 1983).
