Synopsis
Hard times have hit the ranch. When Loper heads to town to meet with the banker, Slim decides to hit the road in search of a new job. But little does Slim know that the Head of Ranch Security and his faithful sidekick have stowed away in the back of his pickup. Before they know it, they're putting down paws in a new town. Farewell, ranch life . . .
Things are not looking good for the ranch. So when Loper heads into town to negotiate with the banker, Slim hits the road in search of a new home. Meanwhile, Hank and his faithful sidekick Drover hitch a ride in the back of Slim's pickup. Before long, they come to a stop in an unfamiliar town. And when slim lands himself a new job, Hank finds that he's no longer the Head of Ranch Security, but the Head of Chicken House Security. Hank knows that this new life is for the birds...but will he ever see the ranch again?
About the Author
John R. Erickson is a former cowboy and theologian who has written numerous books for both children and adults, including the acclaimed series about Hank the Cowdog. He lives in Perryton, Texas.
Gerald L. Holmes has illustrated numerous cartoons and textbooks in addition to the Hank the Cowdog series.
