Phizzwhizzing new cover look and branding for the World's NUMBER ONE Storyteller! As a young man, Roald Dahl's adventures took him from London to East Africa, until the Second World War began and he became a RAF pilot. You'll read stories of whizzing through the air in a Tiger Moth Plane, encounters with deadly green mambas and hungry lions, and the terrible crash that led him to storytelling. Going Solo is exciting, enthralling and just like its prequel Boy - it's all TRUE.. Illustrated with photographs and original letters. And now you can listen to all of Roald Dahl's stories on audio, read by some very famous voices, including Kate Winslet, David Walliams and Steven Fry - plus there are added squelchy soundeffects from Pinewood Studios! Also look out for new Roald Dahl apps in the App store and Google Play- including the disgusting TWIT OR MISS! and HOUSE OF TWITS inspired by the revolting Twits.

Quentin Blake has illustrated more than three hundred books and was Roald Dahl's favourite illustrator. In 1980 he won the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal. In 1999 he became the first ever Children's Laureate and in 2013 he was knighted for services to illustration.
Roald Dahl outdoes himself as he brilliantly portrays the horrors of war, along with the wonderful details that made up his life as a young soldier during WWII. Derek Jacobi presents Dahl as though he had been there. We join Dahl as he learns to fly, observes the carnage of war, and experiences the mixed emotions that haunt most soldiers. Whether portraying Dahl's conversational style or his letters to his mother, Jacobi is splendid, perfectly recreating the different speech patterns and accents of the many people Dahl encountered during the war. All ages will gain a valuable history lesson, complete with music, humor, and drama. S.G.B. © AudioFile 2003, Portland, Maine-- Copyright © AudioFile, Portland, Maine
