Renaissance paintings from Flemish and Italian masters taken from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection are further accompanied by scholarly comment from a former Vice-Director of Education at the MMA. Large reproductions, many with details highlighted, invite closer study. But the pictures themselves are not compelling to young readers, and the text is unlikely to win many children's hearts.
