ea. vol: illus. by Richard Brown. unpaged. CIP. Gulliver/HBJ. 1987. PSm $5.95. Kindergarten-Grade 2 These two oversized picture books have colorful illustrations. The animal book begins with pets found in the home and continues with animals found ``in the fields,'' ``on the shore,'' ``in the jungle,'' etc. The result is that some animals are pictured together which would not normally be found living in the same area, such as the panda and the llamaa fact that should be pointed out to children. The transportation book begins with ways in which children move themselveswalking, running, skipping, etc., and then shows other methods of transportation ``in the country,'' ``on the road,'' ``in the past,'' etc. From three to eight types of travel are pictured on the double-page spread devoted to each group. Both books are colorfully illustrated with pen-and-ink drawings with watercolor. Each picture is clearly labeled in large letters. While not essential purchases, the books could be useful for beginning English language study and to fill requests for pictures of animals and forms of transportation. Jean H.
