When they finally catch the pesky predator, they realize that he was actually painting the eggs, not eating them. The spare sentences and large type invite beginning readers to follow this funny tale, and the folksy watercolor-and-ink cartoons effectively capture the couple's slapstick attempts to catch their prey.
