Kindergarten-Grade 1-These series entries have colorful illustrations and very simple, repetitive texts. In Tapping Tale, a child goes on her first sleepover and hears a noise in the night that turns out to be her friend's dog's tail. The illustrations are bright and appealing, but the story seems incomplete. The second title is more satisfying, although the theme is a bit tired. Framed cartoon illustrations leave clues that Gil, an ant, is mistaken in thinking that his friends have forgotten his birthday. His dejection is cleverly shown by his drooping antennae and his elation clearly depicted at the surprise party given in his honor. Additional at best.
