First published in 1961, this is a greatly expanded cartobiobliography that includes descriptions of 2,240 maps and charts and 76 atlases and sketch books mainly in the Library of Congress's Geography and Map Division. In addition to maps of the United States, its regions, and individual states, there are also listings for 210 maps from General Sherman's own collection that detail troop movements, fortifications, and more. Maps are indexed under short title, as well as under battles, cartographers, places, subjects, printers, engravers, etc. The reproductions are excellent. For Civil War and cartography collections.
