Betty is hungry. She sees a banana. She wants to eat it. But the banana will not open! Poor Betty. She cries and sobs, and kicks and SCREAMS . . . until her friend Mr Toucan swoops by. 'There's no need for that,' says Mr Toucan. 'Would you like me to peel the banana for you?' Mr Toucan peels the banana for Betty and (after several more tantrums) she is finally able to enjoy the fruits of her labour. The banana is delicious - YUM! Mr Toucan is relieved - PHEW! But then Betty spots another banana . . .

Steve Antony is a graduate of the MA Children's Book Illustration at Anglia Ruskin University. In Betty Goes Bananas, his first picture book, Steve has used a combination of pencil and graphite drawings, banana paper and colour to create a truly hilarious picture book that parents and children
will adore.
'A masterwork of a picture book structure and pacing' * Travis Jonker, School Library Journal * Very funny read aloud text, and small children will love the petulant gorilla * Fiona Noble, The Bookseller * This simple, close-up tale, brightly illustrated by Antony...speaks to the foot-stamping, banana-gobbling toddler in all of us. * Maria Russo, New York Times * This is a laugh-aloud book with very few words, but a lot of pictures of Betty and her expressions, plus of course, the bananas. * Caroline Franklin, Newbury Weekly News * Well drawn and cleverly told, children and adults alike couldn't fail to be amused by Betty's antics and Antony's stature has risen yet further. * Dean Haigh, Telegraph and Argus (Bradford) * Tears and tantrums ... they are a familiar part of early childhood ... so why not give your testy toddlers a 'taste' of their own grumpy gripes with author and illustrator Steve Antony's creatively crotchety ape Betty? * Pam Norfolk, Lincolnshire Evening Post * Betty will ring many familiar bells with parents because despite her charming hairy exterior and her delightful pink hair bow, a beast lies within. * Emma O'Donovan, The Book Sniffer * Original, funny comic drawings, spare in colour and bold in line, are a perfect accompaniment to this tale demonstrating the need to re-channel temper into action. * Books for Keeps *
