About the Author
Patrick Hanks has been a lexicographer and linguistic researcher for over twenty-five years. He is now Chief Editor, Current English Dictionaries, at Oxford University Press. Flavia Hodges is a philologist, lexicographer, and publisher. Together they have written A Dictionary of Surnames and A Dictionary of Babies' Names also published by OUP.
