Synopsis
This masterclass combines a thorough review of the English language as tested in the Cambridge First Certificate with extensive exam training. Students learn how to write various types of exam compositions by analyzing models and following step-by-step guidelines. The reading texts are all taken from authentic sources. All reading texts are followed by exercises in vocabulary, which highlight new items in context. Grammar is revised and extended, encouraging students to identify what they already know and to build on it to achieve greater accuracy. Listening and speaking are also covered in detail in the Exam Techniques sections. An Exam Factfile at the beginning of the book provides information about each exam paper and the questions it contains. Every unit includes an Exam Techniques section which focuses on one question type, providing guidance and revision.

About the Author
Michael Duckworth is a teacher and author who has worked in schools in Africa, the Far East, and Europe. Kathy Gude is an EFL consultant and author. She has taught students of all levels of ability on general and business courses, and examination classes in Italy and Britain. Kathy has also worked for many years on a freelance basis for Cambridge ESOL, and as a teacher trainer and ESOL teacher.
