Review:

"This is a most timely compendium of the skills and principles to infuse best practices into 21st century CPS. Attention to cultural competence, collaboration, and solution-focused and family-centered practice add to the relevance and helpfulness of the volume. From case illustrations to
concrete examples of concepts and principles, this handbook is a critical resource not just for CPS workers but for all practitioners who work with CPS families."-Katharine Briar-Lawson, Ph.D., Dean and Professor, School of Social Welfare, University at Albany, State University of New York

"Helping in Child Protective Services is an outstanding tool for new and experienced caseworkers, students, and those who are responsible for the education, supervision, and professional development of front-line child protection staff. Skillfully integrating the most current research in the
areas of the law, medical evaluation, and family-based casework practice, this is an essential guide to the state-of-the-art interventions available to today's child protective service workers."- Jan McIntosh, MSW, LCSW, Child Welfare Administrator, Denver Department of Human Services, and Faculty,
Metropolitan State College of Denver, Department of Social Work
