Learning the alphabet is fun when you bring along this crazy collection of animals, featuring everyone from Dizzy Dinosaurs to Impish Iguanas and Zany Zebras. Richly illustrated with engaging scenes that young children will love, each page brings the reader along to Nibble Noodles with a pair of well-mannered Narwhals, or lets them join the Lyre-strumming Lizards Lounging by the Lagoon (with their friends Lobster, Lion, and Loon). The more children look, the more same-letter objects they can name, and the more they learn. Odette and Bruce Johnson turn the simple task of learning the alphabet into a wild trip through a child's imagination

BRUCE and ODETTE JOHNSON are a father/daughter team living in Coburg, Ontario. This is their first book.
PreSchool-Grade 1-- The title of this alphabet book also serves as the text for its first page, accompanied by an upper- and lower-case A. Dominating the space is a colorful, framed plasticine rendering of two friendly alligators in the swamp, eating an apple and an A while the rest of the letters are spilling around. A page is devoted to each consecutive letter; often the bas-relief illustrations contain whimsical details, textures, and additional items not mentioned in the accompanying alliterative text. Most of the subjects are animals, with a few humans for variety, such as the green-faced ladies, "Queasy Queens and Quantities of Quiche." There's no rhyme or reason to this book--it's just an amusing, additional abecedarian. --Carolyn Jenks, Oyster River Elem . School, Durham, NH
