About the Author

Tim Noakes is Liberty Life Professor of Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Cape Town. He is also Director of the MRC/UCT Bioenergetics of Exercise Research Unit and Professor in the Department of Pysiology. Stephen Granger, formerly a competitive road and cross-country athelete, is an environmental scientist who is also a free-lance athletics writer and photographer of high repute.
