The autobiography of the last Commander-in-Chief of the Pakistan Army, the book dwells mainly on the author's years with Field Marshal Slim during the Second World War, and on Pakistan's two wars with India. The latter portion of the book is devoted to describing the author's position vis-a-vis Bhutto, first during his years with the Pakistan Army, and later as Pakistan's Ambassador in Vienna and then in Athens.
