Review:
I use the books on a regular basis as they support all topics that we cover from years 7 - 9. The topics are usually covered by a general introduction, a page or two of explanation and then activities which are based on information given in the book. The activities are often skills based as they need the pupils to analyse and interpret maps, diagrams and graphs. Pupils enjoy completing the tasks as they are fairly quick and they can get instant feedback on how they've done. On the whole pupils will gain a good foundation in geography from working with this series. The skills and knowledge which the pupils will acquire and improve upon will prove invaluable for those that continue onto GCSE. I find that the books are accessible for the vast majority of pupils. In comparison to other books available the text and diagrams are clear and they are supported by good resources. The language used is also appropriate for KS3. Teacher Review on SchoolZone.com Even if pupils do not have the English skills to gain understanding from the text, the clear diagrams and pictures still allow them to access the material and gain an understanding of the topic being studied. There is also enough information in the books and there are enough suitable resources to enable you to stretch and challenge the G&T pupils. Another advantage of these books is also the large number of different topics to choose from so it will support all topics that a geography department should wish to teach as a foundation to GCSE topics. There is also a large amount of support material available from resource books and online. Teacher Review on SchoolZone.com
