From School Library Journal

Kindergarten-Grade 3-The author attempts to answer 11 unconnected questions about how a supermarket operates, e.g., how apples get to the market in winter; why some eggs are white and others are brown; how the fizz gets into soda bottles; and how food is transported and stored. In addition, Ripley talks about why fingers stick to frozen items and why some people bring their own shopping bags. The most interesting question concerns the magic eye, which may not be low enough for small people to activate it. Flat cartoonstyle illustrations show a family of unclear ethnic origin going through the store.
