Broadly viewing the global economy as a political competition that produces winners and losers, International Political Economy holistically and accessibly introduces the field of IPE to readers with limited background in political theory, history, and economics. This book surveys major interests and institutions and examines how state and non-state actors pursue wealth and power. Emphasizing fundamental economic concepts as well as the interplay between domestic and international politics, International Political Economy not only explains how the global economy works; it also encourages readers to think critically about how economic policy is made in the context of globalization.

From the Back Cover:
One of the most persistent questions of sociologists is, "Who benefits from the existing social customs and social order and who does not?" Because social groups are created by people, such groups are not sacred. The authors are pioneers of incorporating race, class, and gender issues throughout the book. Based on the assumption of an inherent duality in American society, this book is a study of the forces that lead to both stability and change and sheds existing myths and ideologies by questioning all social arrangements. Topics include: origins of sociology, the importance of observation, sexuality, intersection of class, race, and gender, and more. Designed for aspiring sociologists or anyone seeking to understand themselves, others, and society.
