Now in its third edition, this book focuses on the context, processes, and content for consultation, collaboration, and co-teaching among special education teachers, families, and support personnel. It presents aspects of working together that educators address in their professional roles. The book highlights the roles and responsibilities of collaborative school consultants in attending to special needs of students in inclusionary and resource room settings. It is practical, easy to use, and comprehensive in its overview of collaborative school consultation and co-teaching practices. Strategies for co-planning and co-teaching are provided.

The book includes an entire chapter (3) on the constructive and productive use of adult individual differences in the collaborative setting. One chapter (9) addresses co-teaching and its vital precursor, co-planning, as key components in the success of inclusionary programs. Another chapter (4) concentrates on the family partnerships that are a necessary element in meeting special needs. A problem-solving model is oulined (ch. 5) for identifying needs and planning for them.
