It is a great relaxation for me. For ten days we have been entirely in the water in a relatively calm secteur. We are living in regular swamps, little or no shelter--not only no shelter for protection from shells,--for one does not count much on them, as nothing resists them,--but we have no shelter against the rain. It is truly strange to see such a thing; I cannot give you any reason. For the first few days I had a hole a little larger than that of a terrier, and I had to curl up while lying in it, for I could not sit up.
