A romanzo from Italian streets where the melancholy dreams of Mafiosi become nightmares. A hitman lies dying in the gray and narrow streets of Naples, a handsome new revolver by his side. Nino's father gave him that gun for his birthday. It never fired a shot. Peppino spent his life taking orders from the bosses and dodging bullets. An old man, it takes a divine intervention to save his life one more time. Peppino has lost his son, but not his faith. He puts down the fishing rods of his retirement and picks up his old pistols, looking for revenge. Shots ring out over Peppi's gray head once again as he searches for his son's murderers and the shining black gun he gave to Nino on the last night of his life. Spare, romantic, and surreal, 5 is the Perfect Number brings Italian magic realism to graphic novels in a story about heroes, families, and faith.

"Hard-nosed modern noir doesn't get much darker or harder than in this touching story of an old Mafiosi hunting down the killer of his murdered son. Imagine Beat Takeshi remaking the final reel of The Godfather with pen and ink. It's so beautifully drawn that you'll quickly understand why when it comes to comics the Italians believe the Americans can't touch them" * Time Out * "Igor Tuveri, otherwise known as Igort, has produced what may well be the best crime comic of the past five years. What makes 5 is the Perfect Number stand out is the visual experience. Every page is a joy in composition and staging" * Comics Journal * "Set in a Neapolitan city-scape vividly, sinisterly rendered in blue and black ink, it is the tale of an old Mafia man's last sortie, with a wide-screen feel and a bitter-sweet ending" -- Peter Millar * The Times * "In this moody, duotone graphic novel Igort, alias Igor Tuveri, breathes an unexpected beauty into the gritty mafiosi genre, importing subtleties from Japanese cinema and manga" * Dazed and Confused * "Graphically beautiful, stunningly paced - each panel is a well observed moment frozen in time" * Seth *
