Synopsis
The extraordinary inventor and electrical engineer Nikola Tesla changed the face of early-twentieth-century life. His ever-curious mind contributed to a great many fields - he took out over 700 patents worldwide - but he is particularly known for his work on electricity and radio, neither of which would exist in their current form were it not for him. Born in what is now Croatia, he spent most of his working life in the USA, where he lived an eccentric existence but ultimately earned widespread acclaim. Contains approx. 150 illustrations and beautifully reproduced documents from Nikola Tesla's personal archives, such as original plans and drawings for his machines, journal extracts and letters.

About the Author
Dr Richard Gunderman is John A. Campbell Professor of Radiology at Indiana University, US. He is the author of 10 books, including X-ray Vision (OUP, 2013) and We Come to Life with Those We Serve (Indiana University, 2017). Dr Gunderman is also Chancellor's Professor of Radiology, Pediatrics, Medical Education, Philosophy, Liberal Arts, Philanthropy, and Medical Humanities and Health Studies.
