The Matt in question is Matt Merola who was Reggie Jackson's and Tom Seaver's agent. I know that because I bought it at Matt Merola's home a good number of years ago. Tony Verna is credited with inventing 'instant replay.' He was a longtime producer of television sports and entertainment blockbusters. Hardcover in Dust Jacket. Using an interview format, this chatty, informative book describes the producing and directing of news, sports, and special events on TV. Although much technical language is used by the various experts, many of the day-to-day workings of how a live program is put together will interest professionals and amateurs alike. In addition there is a detailed section on how to get a job in this very competitive field. An entire chapter is devoted to the landmark program Saturday Night Live, and there is much backstage material about such events as beauty pageants, the Rose Bowl parade, and charity telethons.
