A somewhat unusual mystery in which Charles Paris discovers that the best time to stop a murder is before the victim is born. As a bit-part actor with a taste for Scotch, girls and intrigue, Charles finds it easy to impersonate a policeman in order to help a pregnant showgirl. But what begins as a simple favour becomes a dangerous plot as the theatrical sleuth gets involved in a backstage drama of blackmail and murder, and plays a walk-on part in a monster movie with real blood.
