Thiebaud is a member of the first gener ation of West Coast Pop artists, per haps best known for his paintings of cream pies and cakes. Wayne Thiebaud is a catalog with accompanying essays of a restrospective touring exhibition organized by the San Francisco Muse um of Modern Art. Of the 100-plus il lustrations, 68 are color plates. Thie baud's career is divided into chapters on still lifes, figural paintings, and Die benkorn-like landscapes; the latter characterizes his latest work. Recom mended. Raymond L.
