Reviews

While this work suffers from many of the problems characteristic of posthumously edited collections, it is a significant exposition of the nature of human faith and a worthy addition to the corpus of writings by Niebuhr (1894-1962). He begins by considering the nature of our faith in ideas and in God. Only toward the end of this work does Niebuhr assume a specifically Christian stance and consider the nature of faith in the Christian community, and how he believes Christ makes redeeming faith possible for Christians. This book belongs in all seminary libraries and in academic libraries with strong theology collections, since Niebuhr remains an important figure in the history of theology.
