Synopsis
Between August 1943 and March 1944 the RAF flew over 10,000 sorties and dropped over 30,000 tons of bombs on Berlin. But Berlin was not destroyed and the RAF lost more than 600 aircraft and their crews. Martin Middlebrook meticulously reconstructs the course of this battle, using his interviews with over 400 people, including the people of Berlin and Luftwaffe crews. He brings together the stories of both sides to form a total picture of those grim, heroic and terrifying days.
