John K. Akers is Special Assistant to Billy Graham. A native of Colorado Springs, Colorado, he is a graduate of the University of Colorado (B.A., history), Columbia Theological Seminary (B.D.; Th.M., New Testament), and the University of Edinburgh (Ph.D., Ecclesiastical History). He has taught at two Presbyterian colleges, Belhaven College and Montreat College, and was also Academic Dean of Montreat College until accepting his present position in
Dr. Akers is an ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America. He and his wife Anne make their home in Montreat, North Carolina, where they are active in the Montreat Presbyterian Church. They have one son, Tim, who is married and works in the publishing industry in the Chicago area.
