Synopsis
This story is one of child abuse and love. Although six months old, Nicole had gained only two pounds while living with her mother and grandmother who not only neglected her but abused her. Discovered by the Child Protection Agency, Nicole became a foster child of the Johnstons who nurtured her back to health, both physical and emotional, with undying love. But the story is not over. It was just the beginning of the Johnstons' fight for Nicole, against her mother who didn't want her, her grandmother who needed the extra welfare money, and the insensitive social workers, lawyers and judges who placed more value on the rights of the natural parents than on the life and safety of the child. The Johnstons lost the battle and Nicole was returned to her natural parents only to be severely abused and lost to the Johnstons forever.
