Essentially, this slight volume is a plug for certain household cleaning products. Williams ( The First Men's Guide to Ironing ) recommends Eureka vacuum cleaners, the Black and Decker DirtVac, Pine-Sol (although not for wooden floors), Windex, Lemon Pledge, Jubilee (now evidently extinct) and Clorox, explaining why he favors each. Amidst the commercials is an intermittently humorous text, witty at some points and forced and leaden at others. The book is supplemented by delightful engravings.
