Synopsis
Between November 1945 and October 1946, 22 high-ranking Nazi officials defended themselves before the International Military Tribunal. Reproducing significant sections of the trial record, this volume also outlines the background to the trial, traces the preparations made by the principle actors in the courtroom, and considers how the prosecution, defense, and tribunal dealt with the counts against the accused.

About the Author
Michael R. Marrus is professor of history at the University of Toronto, a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and a regular speaker at the U.S. Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. An internationally renowned Holocaust scholar, Marrus is the author of five books and numerous articles on European history, including the award-winning worksVichy France and the Jews (1981, 1995), written with Robert O. Paxton, andThe Holocaust in History (1987). He has been a Guggenheim Fellow, a visiting professor at UCLA, and a visiting fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies of the Hebrew University and St. Antony’s College, Oxford.
