Among the celebrities are Billie Jean King, Judith Crist, Eartha Kitt and Matilda Cuomo, who reflect on maturity and their personal experiences in the framework of older women in American culture. Some of the stories are harrowing depictions of women's liberation from injustice and abuse; others are deeply felt expressions of aspirations and fulfillment.
