Synopsis

Husband, a compulsive gambler, hires hit woman to kill wife for insurance. Wife, hooked on cocaine, hires hit man to kill husband for insurance. Couple change minds but can't stop hit people who, meanwhile, become romantically involved. Cronley, a screenwriter, journalist, and novelist (Walking Papers, LJ 8/88) delights in the absurd, satirizing everything from church confession to yuppies. The humor is sharper and darker than Donald Westlake's, but there is less depth and character.
