Praise for Flying Leap:
"I don't know what planet Budnitz comes from, but I'm happy to have her. Flying Leap is a tremendous debut--funny, dark, weird, adventurous, slanted and enchanted." --Newsweek
"Budnitz reveals a bionic ear for clever dialogue and a picturesque writing style with a fearless tone that rarely wavers, no matter how quirky the conceit." --J.D. Biersdorfer, The New York Times Book Review
"Amazingly original...These unsettling short stories leave you wanting more." --Seventeen
"Entertaining, engaging." --Time Out New York
"Budnitz's humorous and original story ideas and the bold strokes with which she delineates them are the indispensable allies of her lyric intelligence.... An intriguing and mature debut." --Rachel Cusk, The Village Voice
"Stunningly visual...[Budnitz] is terrifically talented. It will be interesting to see how far her own flying leaps take her." --Boston Globe
Judy Budnitz grew up in Atlanta. She graduated from Harvard in 1995, and now attends NYU's creative writing program. Her work has been performed on NPR's The Sound of Writing, and has appeared in The Paris Review, Story, Glimmer Train, and Writers Under 25.
