The Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards is a "re-publication" of a famous fortune-telling book written in the 1920s by one "Gypsy Rickwood". Nobody knows who she was, but in that original edition, she said that the method is a very old one - practiced by wandering gypsies long before it was ever set down on paper. Based on the Romany tradition of fortune-telling, astrologer Julia Parker has translated the original questions and answers to suit today's lifestyles and preoccupations. With each book comes a beautifully designed pack of tarot cards. To ask a question about the future, simply shuffle the pack, concentrate on the question, and draw a card. Detailed explanations are provided in the accompanying book. Will you be successful? How many times will you fall in love? Are you wasting your talents at your current job? What is your lucky number? Julia Parker is the author of many astrology books including The Compleat Astrologer and Parker's Astrology, which have sold over 200,000 copies and 100,000 copies in the U.S. respectively. She lives in Sydney, Australia.

In the 1920s, legend has it, a Romany named "Gypsy Rickwood" published a fortune-telling manual based on ancient techniques. His or her (we no longer know if it was a man or a woman) wisdom is re-published in this book-and-card pack, which helps readers tell their own fortunes. First, a person looks up a question in the short book—what will my home be like? Will I travel extensively? What is my lucky time of year? Then, he or she picks a card and matches its number and symbol with the guidebook’s answers. The included deck of cards is not a tarot deck, but rather an ordinary playing deck with four suits and 52 cards. What’s striking is that some of the answers seem to be unexpectedly fun and tongue-in-cheek; in response to a query about potential wedding presents the questioner will receive answers that include a garrulous parrot, an umbrella that the questioner will promptly lose and "a number of useless trifles." Some may take this augury seriously; others may find it mildly amusing as a parlor game.
